Our 5th day in Tokyo, Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009
Harajuku is popularly known for younger crowds that dress in a variety of unique styles such as gothic lolita, visual kei, and cosplay. A lot of visitors come here every Sunday to see these young people walking around the streets with their "harajuku styles." We missed Harajuku on Sunday and we didn't get to see a lot of Harajuku teenagers. It was an ordinary weekday and so few people were dressed up and not too many people along Jingu Bridge where Harajuku teenagers are socializing.
The term "Harajuku Girls" has been used by English-language to describe teenagers dressed in any fashion or unique style who are in the area of Harajuku.
The pictures above were taken in Takeshita Street, it is a narrow street that has a lot of small stores selling different types of unique dresses that caters for youth fashions.
